RECRUITMENT STRATEGIES

With twenty years of experience, Heartland Research Associates, LLC has developed a multi-strategy system of recruiting patients. Heartland Research Associates, LLC employs six full-time Patient Referral Specialists whose primary responsibilities are to identify patients that may have an interest in participating in pharmaceutical research. Additionally, we have a Marketing Specialist who works with each site to develop advertising and recruitment strategies for each study.

  • Patient identification begins before a study opens to enrollment. Heartland Research Associates, LLC database has approximately 20,000 active volunteers. With the utilization of Clinical Conductor we are able to sort and identify patients by age, sex, region, diagnosis and medications.
  • Heartland Research Associates, LLC staffs all four sites with employees in separate family practice clinics. This allows our Investigators to refer patients from their own clinics. Additionally, the volunteers are often able to see their own physician during the duration of a study.
  • The owners are Certified Trial Investigators and meet with the Patient Referral Specialists and our Director weekly to discuss enrolling studies to offer advice and opinions about volunteer identification and selection.
  • The newsletter, Vital Health, is released bi-monthly to Heartland Research Associates, LLC active volunteers in addition to the clinics patients and residents in the surrounding areas.
  • Many of our volunteers choose to share their positive experience volunteering with friends and family. We are proud of the number of volunteers who choose to encourage others to participate in studies with us.
  • Our outreach programs involve visiting local expos and events. By focusing on educating the public about the significance of research, we have found many people who are interested in participating in a study.
  • The Investigators often appear as guest speakers at events or groups, where the doctors are able to share information about different diagnoses and research currently being done.
  • Preparation for outside advertising begins with the start-up package. Each study has advertisements designed for recruitment upon the arrival of the protocol. Typically advertisements may be run in varying markets, such as:
           ° Television
           ° Radio
           ° Direct Mailer
           ° Newspaper
           ° Email
           ° Flyers and Posters
           ° Local Magazines
