WICHITA SITES
AND ATTRACTIONS

The secret is out…

MSN real estate ranked Wichita 1st on the list of best affordable cities. In July of 2006 Wichita was ranked the 9th best big city in the United States by CNN/Money and Money magazine.

The rest of the country is finding out what Wichitans have always known. The city of Wichita serves as the cultural center of Kansas with museums, live theatre and sports teams. With a population of 596,452 Wichita offers a small town feel with big city attractions.

Downtown, the Music Theatre of Wichita, the Metropolitan Ballet of Wichita, the Wichita Grand Opera and the Wichita Symphony Orchestra perform regularly at Century II. For smaller shows look into Mosley Street Melodrama, Crown Uptown, and Cabaret Oldtown.

In addition to theatre, Wichita features many museums of interest. Perhaps one of the most unique museums is Wichita’s Cowtown Museum with its 17 acre open air attractions. Wichita is also proud to share the Exploration Place Science and Discovery Center, the Wichita Art Museum, the Museum of World Treasures and much more.

If visiting during nice weather we strongly recommend visiting the Sedgwick County Zoo. Discover 2,500 animals of nearly 500 different species all up close and personal. This nationally renowned Zoo has the 17th largest collection in the United States attracting more than 500,000 visitors annually.

After all of that entertainment, it is easy to work up an appetite. Wichita is full of great places to eat from fine dining to family owned quick eats.

Wichita Mid-Continent Airport is the largest airport in Kansas and allows travel into Wichita fast and easy.

A little about our city…

Wichita sits at the meeting of the Little Arkansas and the Big Arkansas, truly dividing the city between East Wichita and West Wichita. With both a West Wichita office and an East Wichita office, Heartland has been able to serve residents from both sides of the city. In 2006, the population of the entire Metropolitan Wichita area was estimated at 361,420.

Sedgwick County is part of the Metropolitan Wichita Area and the home of the City of Wichita. It is important to encompass all of Sedgwick County when considering the demographics served by the HRA Wichita sites.

The city has earned the title of The Air Capital of the World due to the founding of aircraft corporations such as Stearman, Cessna, Mooney and Beach. Today many Wichitans are employed by the aircraft companies Cessna, Hawker Beechcraft, Learjet, Spirit AeroSystem, Airbus and Boeing. Understanding the needs and interest of employees from these companies helps Heartland Research Associates, LLC to serve them better.
